WHAT ARE CREATIVE APPRENTICESHIPS?
The arts and cultural sector needs talented and creative young people with an interest in the arts and a willingness to develop skills.
Creative Apprenticeships offer an opportunity for talented young people to get a start in the creative and cultural industries. Based on ability and potential rather than an academic track record they provide on-the-job training and experience as an alternative route to gaining employment in the sector.
Employers in the sector need talent and often find that this talent comes from people with relevant on-the-job experience so the scheme has been developed to meet these needs.
This is a new national scheme developed and launched by Creative Cultural Skills (www.ccskills.org.uk) and it is being offered in Liverpool for the first time from September 2008. 10 apprentices will work across a group of 8 organisations gaining valuable training as well as formal qualifications delivered in partnership with Liverpool Community College.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL I GET AT THE END OF THE APPRENTICESHIP?
You will gain a Level 2 Certificate in Creative and Cultural Practice and a Level 2 National Award in Community Arts Management. You will also gain key skills in communication, application of number and Information and Communication Technology.
But more importantly, you will gain valuable work experience that will look good on your CV!
